I didn't know that BCI was considered red tail, I was pretty sure that only BCC was. I think people slap the name "red tail boa" on all boas. I too have never heard of hoggs being considered red tails. My boy certainly has a very red tail, but "red tail" he is not.

BCCs are the true-redtails. BCIs are usually referred to as "common boas".

People commonly refer to imperators as red-tails but that is not accurate. It's compounded by the fact that more and more people routinely buy and sell imperators that are labeled as red-tails.

In other words, the once purposeful misrepresentation of the term is now becoming so prevalent, that most people don't know the difference between a true RTB and a common boa.

Yep that is technically correct. I think in one of my previous posts I put RTB in "". People just tend to call them that.

The red on a true RTB's tail is so much more vibrant, differences between a BCI and a BCC really are insane, but as long as a breeder identifies it as BCC RTB or a BCI RTB, hearing them both refered to as RTB really doesn't bother me. But it is a shame so many chose not to identify locality and genus and just sell them as RTBs.
