O and I'm also not new to snakes I have 9.1 pythons and 1.1 boas plus this one.

And he is currently in a sterlite container in a complete separate part of house then the rest of my snakes just in case

Frig, I hate those things. So inhumane, to the animals that it is killing. Also, accidents LIKE THIS can happen!

Wow.. The best thing you can do for him right now is keep it very clean and allow it to heal up on its own as much as possible. That's going to be a serious scar but I think s/he should be fine eventually. It'll take a few sheds but it'll be looking much better soon. I'm no expert, but the advice given on much smaller meal items to reduce the stress on the injury sounds just about right to me. Hopefully others can input here.
Good luck and please do keep us updated as s/he progresses! This will be one I'd love to see healed.

According to this cream based (not petroleum based) neosporin without pain killer is best.
- the pain killer is poisonous to them
- petroleum products can cause scale damage

I tried replying to this yesterday but my computer messed up.
Like others have been saying, make sure you keep him on non particle substrate like paper towel. Wash the wound daily and use the non sting/non scented neo sporin to help fight off possible infection. He is going to shed A LOT to try fixing that wound. If he is eating still then I think that he will recover and be fine. Babies are resilient, they're born to survive.

I rescued a garter snake that had been hit by a lawn mower, she was almost dead when I found her but I cleaned her up and warmed her up and she started eating and was on her way to the park after a few week.

Oh, another thing that sounds horrible, cut that dead skin away from his body. It's going to start to decay and you don't want that on him.

When treating wounds on our horses. We only used betadine the first time to clean the wound. After that use something else as betadine will kill new growing cells as well (quoted from my equine vet). Silver sulfadiazine can be purchased at your vets office, expensive, but priceless when dealing with severe wounds and great to have on hand for emergencies!
