Why is it so hard to find feeder mice?
Buying frozen is out of the question since I think that paying over double for shipping than the item your buying is absurd ($14 for a bag of 25 small mice. nearly $40 for s&h). The only local pet store takes horrible care of their reptiles, and the others are about 45 minutes away. No luck finding local breeders either. Of course, mother dearest won't go with me to the 45 minute away from the store. "You've been there before. You can drive there". No mother, driving over once doesn't mean I have it memorized.
Bah.

Tell me about it! I got lucky and went with loxahatcheerodents.com, shipping less than $20, because they're close enough to me, I also was looking into bigcheeserodents.com
Check out what's available at

Lucky you. I checked them out (loxa) and shipping ranges from $58 to $44. I did breed my own mice for a short while, but it's not worth it with only one snake. Plus, since we've moved into the new house, my room is significantly smaller..

Depending on how many feeders you're ordering it can end up being cheaper than buying them from a store...insane shipping included.

Well, the max I'm really looking at is 25, since that's the lowest amount most companies will ship (Even then, it's too much). he 45 minute away store sells feeders for $1.25, multiplying that by 25 results in: $31.25.
Frankly, I can't afford $50-$80 for 25 mice. That's two weeks worth of gas for me.

I feed mine f/t but at petco they have plenty of mice/rats but I'm not sure how healthy it is for the snakes to eat...and if your snake is fully grown you could always buy in bulk which would make it cheaper in the long run.

I get mine at the reptile sale near me. I'm not sure what their mouse prices are, but I get 20 small rats for about 24 bucks.
Any local reptile clubs? The one I used to belong to went together and bought frozen feeders. The shipping price became very reasonable with 20-odd people going in together. It takes a lot of rats and mice to fill a box.

I buy all of my feeders at reptile shows. They have one every couple months here. I buy enough to last me until the next show. Even with the price of admission, my feeders are far, far cheaper than what you would pay at a store of any sort.
(I don't like to order things online)

The reptile sale has been a real help for me. I can stock up for a month or two and the prices are reasonable even after I figure in the $4 admission.
The only bad thing to come out of it was when I bought Darth Jackass.

Don't have a petco here. Have petsmart and Southern Agriculture. At Petsmart, for four medium frozen mice it's $10. Not sure how much frozen are at Southern Ag, but live feeders are $1.25.

I don't think so.
I want to go to the upcoming reptile show to get some feeders, but since money has been tight, I haven't gotten any extra spending money. So, I doubt I'll get to go (entrance fee alone is $5). Plus I'm not about to drive into the city to a place I've only been once by myself. Wondering if I should attempt to convince my semi-friend to take me.
