Males are prone to fasts. Ive had a male go on a fast for 6 months and another for 10. If you want to be safe. Get a grams scale and weigh him bi weekly. You won't be able to tell if he's losing weight with out it. Soon enough enough anyways. I have a binder for all of my balls. I've printed out a very simple "action page" punched holes and everyone has their own. A simple notebook and scale would do you wonders. Write down feeds, refusals, sheds, defecations, odd behavior etc. This will save you countless nights of worry. Unfortunately there's nothing you can really do beyond double husbandry, keep offering. And record everything. Their defense system is to not show their weakness'. So if he is sick he will lose weight and you will see it before it becomes detrimental with the scale. If he's fine he will stay at a consistent weight or really close to it.
