switching to f/t
For the past couple of months I've been trying to get my little female normal switched from pre killed mice over to f/t, then f/t rats.
On most attempts I end up feeding her the normal prekilled within 2 days, so she is eating during this time. She will take a kicking prekilled with in seconds of it being put in her tank.
She is about 8 months old (guessing, Petco snake with no info) and weighed in at 510g Sunday night.
I've read many threads and tried most things. The only thing I have't tried is "make her hungry" skipping feeding until she is hungry enough to take it.
I was curious on your thoughts about this. She is young and I don't know if I'm comfortable with doing this.
My wife calls her "my spoiled little princess".

Re: switching to f/t
How are you warming up the F/T? Mine will refuse them if they aren't warm to the touch. You want to get as close as possible to that "still kicking prekilled" temp.

I've tried both wet and dry thawing/ reheating. Heated up to 95 deg on my infrared.
Wet, in a ziplock bag in warm (not hot to the touch).
Dry, thawed at room temp on top of her cage then heated with a hair dryer (to a much annoyed wife). Not to quick or close as to cook it.

And then after heating it up, did you grab it behind the scruff of the neck and make it do the "zombie dance"?

Yeah, a few different ways from gentle to "fleeing"
Tried over night, bagging her with one.

i got really lucky i guess because i hear of all these people having feeding problems...i got my first bp in the beginning of june and she ate 2 days later and hasnt missed a meal since except when in shed...i got my girlfriend one at the beginning of july and he was in shed when i got him but 4 days later he shed and that night he ate a f/t...then i got another on the 20th of july and stopped and got it a rat and it ate as soon as i got home...i am for sure that my first two will eat f/t, prekilled, or live...i know the last one i got will eat live and prekilled and the preowner told me he will eat f/t as well...none of them has skipped a meal except when in shed...so lucky me i guess
