    Helix or Herpstat?

My boyfriend built me a rack this weekend for my snakes. We are thinking about getting either a Herpstat ND or a Helix to conrtol the heat tape. Which one do you all recommend? Is one really better then the other?

They are both great, but I have the herpstat. I don't think you can go wrong with either though.

Out of the 2 herpstat. Helixs I have been seeing lately failing more often.

Also helixs require the set temps be set higher than a herpstat. When I had helix to get 90 i had to set it at 97 which IMO is not acceptable.

Herpstat im able to set it at 90 and get that temp

Probably can't go wrong with either. I have two Herstats and haven't had any issues with them for years...

I can't speak on the Helix because I am not using any but I've had great luck with my Herpstat. I will be ordering a Herpstat 2 or Herpstat 4 within the next few weeks when I build another rack.

    Regards,

    B

One other item to point out, with the Herpstat ND, you get Night Drop built in if you planned on using that feature. I believe with the Helix, it's an add on item.

I've used both, and prefer my Herpstats. Nothing wrong with the Helix, just found the herpstat easier to use and set.

I have Helix, Herpstat and VE (from Reptilebasics) in my snake room. When I only had two, Herpstat was my favorite. I've had two Vivarium Electronics now for several weeks and they seem to be even better than Herpstat for my use. I like that they stack on top of the rack instead of having to use one of those little stands that the tape keeps coming off of.

    Re: Helix or Herpstat?

I have both and the VE from Reptile Basics. I like all three,I use the Herpstat for my incubators as I like the accuracy and the tenth of a degree setting.

Herpstat has ALWAYS been my favorite hands down. I have had many of them and never personally had a problem

    Re: Helix or Herpstat?

I have heard nothing bad about either of them, but I personally use Herpstat ND on my racks and love them!
