    Leucistics

Hi I have a lesser platinum and a mojave Ball pythons which i hope to breed this winter for the first time, and would love a Blue eyed lucy. I thought it follwed pretty normal odds, as in i have a 25% chance per egg of getting a Bel, a lesser or a mojave.
However yesterday i had someone come round buying snakes off me and he acted klike he knew loads of stuff. Im not exactly dumb or totally novice myself but he made it sound very convincing. He said that i had a really low chance of making a bel, something like 8% or 12% (something low) from a lesser to mojave and the odds are higher with a mojave to mojave. He also said that i would have a higher chance if i bred their offspring together in years to come than they themselves have of making a BEL. This sounds like the sort of thing that happens with jaguar carpets as in siblings have more jaguars when bred. But i have never heard of this before with the blue eyed lucy complex.
Also he was saying about how you can also get black eyed leucistics from mating mojave x mojave or mojave x lesser for example. I said no....they come from fires, but he said sometimes they also pop up in crosses like the former.
it was all making me feel very confused and i didnt know whether to believe it or not, so am asking you lot on here, coz i figured you would know...

You knew what you were talking about before that guy came along. Erase what he said from your memory.

Yeah, some people like to think they know it all. Hes completely wrong in all aspects.

You have a 25% chance at a BEL.

Sounds fishy. Hope he wasn't at your place- he could have been scoping out your collection. I'm not sure how someone can get his information so completely wrong. Especially with such simple genetics. Smells funny....

    Re: Leucistics

No all my collection is still there thank heavens, lol. He was nice in most respects and acted as though he was quite experienced. Apparently he has sold his reptile collection several times and this times he wants over 1000 snakes in 2 months, and him and his gf are buying up every snake going, they bought some corns off me. I couldnt make my mind up coz i thought ok even if he's wrong about the pythons he seems ok about everything else but my instinct was telling me this is a load of crap...
He was quite jumped up and i couldnt understand why you would say im gonna have 1000 snakes, what fo? i might say there are 1000 snakes i would genuinely like or aspire to have if i were rich or throughout my whole life, but id mean certain thought -out morphs and species but not just anything and everything, just to prove a point or something...? Seriously it would cost millions and what about space and long term upkeep, and you cant seriously breed all those. this seems the typical sort of person who goes round mouthing off like a knob who knows it all saying theyre gonna breed endangered species, or have king cobras or the biggest collection in the world, then end up bankrupt, lol. Its like theyre on some kinda drug or something.

Odd. I see people like this in the bird breading world too. Buying up more than they can handle because they are gonna make quick money. Never works that way. Oh well.

I'd be quite leery of doing business with him. What an odd person, I could not help but laugh at his understanding of the BEL complex. The only difference between breeding Mojo x Lesser and breeding Mojo x Mojo is that the Lesser to Mojo will create a "cleaner" looking Leucistic. I won't even go into everything else he claimed to have known since clearly you now understand what is correct and what is not. I say good luck to him with whatever his plans are.
