    Did he just shed as well? It's very common for them to bleed a little from the vent during or immediately after a shed. The tissue there is very tender and can sometimes tear a little bit when the old skin sloughs off. It's harmless.

    Ball pythons don't usually do well in such large enclosures. Hopefully yours is an exception.
