I don't live anywhere near as warm as you do I do run cool side heat however and during the summer I leave it be as it is on a t-stat the rarely comes on but if the temp dips some (ac catches up) it will click on to bump things up a bit.
Its 96 outside here in CT...Cant wait to get home in the ac...
