    I'm shocked!

This week I'm pet sitting for my BF, while he's away on vacation with his family. I'm watching his baby Bearded Dragon, Uther, for this week, and most of next.

Anyways, Uther isn't the nicest Beardie, he's nipped my BF a few times since he got him, and me yesterday, granted, these have been when we've been hand feeding him. He's hissed (or at least I think it is... sure sounds like it) countless timse too (sidenote: If you've been nipped/bit by a Beardie, did it go numb & tingly afterwards?)

Today I got him out to soak him a bit since he's shedding, and afterwards, was giving him a few tiny pieces of squash, while he dried off. Well, I had one hand in front of the corner of the container I had him in, since he would try and escape other wise.

I noticed he was moving a little, but wasn't sure of what he'd do next...

    This is what he did

! He had my heart racing! He's NEVER climbed onto anyone, and my bf has had him since Feb. Sure he's let us pick him up and such, but not for the past couple months. We've had to wait until night to try and hold him when he was more drowsy...

I'm not sure if he wanted to be held, or if he just wanted out of the container, or what.

I'm pretty sure my bf's happy with this, if not a bit jealous, it is his birthday after all

Needless to say, Uther got a couple crickets when I put him back in his tank

Aw, how cute. XD Beardies are so sweet. I know babies can be flighty, but still, if you hold him a LOT(as in a couple hours a day or more) then he'll warm up and be a really sweetie. I hold mine for maybe 6hrs a day total and he sleeps on my bed with me.(At the head of it on a giant stuffed animal and under his specially made for him blanket so he doesn't get squished at night. xD) He really is spoiled.

It is actually quite common for people to feel a slight numbness/tingling when bitten by a beardie. Not many people know this, and even fewer agree, but bearded dragons do create a very small amount of venom. It is not enough to be even slightly bad for you, but it is there. I know most people will disagree, but it is true I promise!

On another note, @fluffpuffgerbil, aren't you scared you're beardie will make a run for it at night???

It's cool that your beardie decided to climb onto your hand, maybe he just likes your more than he likes your BF!!
