Changing her diet
It's feeding day this week so I'm going to try something different. My 4 year old female who is about 3 and a half feet long is used to getting 4 live adult mice every 2 weeks. That's how her last owner fed her. This week I'm going to try an adult rat. I'm sure she will eat it but my only concern is the rat fighting back. She won't eat F/T so what are the odds of her getting injured by an adult rat?

I would start with a small rat to begin with, an adult rat may be intimidating. have tongs or chop stcks ready. Good luck

Re: Changing her diet
Thanks. I ordered it earlier today so I'll check with the pet store and make sure of the size. I think they said it would be a medium size rat. The mice I got last time were pretty plump.
So if this feeding session is successful should I stick with the 2 week interval or should I feed less often?

Re: Changing her diet
Well. they can live fine with feeding every 2 weeks but I personally think it slows their growth. A small rat (~75g) every 7 days or so is what I do for my adults.

She ate the rat She attacked it so fast I didn't even get a chance to film it lol. I don't have a scale so I didn't weigh it but it was a medium to large rat and she had no trouble swallowing it either.
Now I just hope she keeps it down and digests it properly.

good to see "bella" (my daughter goes by bella(isabella)) ate a rat. she looks big enough to take a rat that size weekly. I even feed some of my smaller snakes small rats but i feed a little on the large size at times when pickins in the breeder tanks are low. i feed every 7 days. my spider just took a small rat last night an he is smaller than that.
not sure its 100% true or what but i heard feeding multiple mice like that can be harmful as multiple constrictions can result it fractures in the snakes bones.. i just feed a little bigger, one meal and back to bed lol
