Is the clip pinching a nerve or something, or do they just instinctively go limp because that's where their mother grabbed them to carry them when they were babies?
Mountain bikes are for slow people, and reptiles are far better pets than cats & dogs!

    It works!

I know what I'm going to use the next time I have to cut claws.

Some cats just "stop" when you scruff them. The clip is scruffing them. Some cats don't go limp when scruffed, so it wouldn't work on all of them. Myself, I prefer to scruff by hand so I know it's not bruising the animal.

That was really funny to watch though.

I tried the clip I've got here out on the back of my hand before I tried it on the cat. It didn't hurt my hand. It just felt like pressure. A cat's skin is a lot looser than mine so I figure I'm not likely to bruise the cat.

I'd rather bruise the cat and get it's claws cut down than declaw it, which is the next step. Not my cat, but it's my roommates and it's been so destructive that she's talking about a declaw. I'd rather cut the claws down and see if that helps.

If cutting the claws doesn't help, look into "Soft Paws" nail caps. I put them on several client's cats to prevent damage.

They've actually come out with a product called "Clipnosis" which basically does the same thing. It's just a small plastic clip that you put on the cat to "scruff" them. I own two of them and they work great on my cats!
