Question Can I take my ball python out when he is in his hide??

Can I take my ball python out when he is in his hide??

Or should I only take him out when he is out and about...which is never.

I've only had him a few days so far but I've been doing a lot of reading.

If you just got him, then let him be for a few more days/ week just to settle in. I know it's hard, but it's for the best!
And it is completely fine to get him from his hide to handle once he is acclimated and eating for you. I am rarely in the mood to handle when they are just getting active and I am just getting ready for bed hah.

Most people here will tell you to leave him alone for 2 weeks to get situated.

I never did with my 6 snakes. I hold them everyday, just take the hide off and pick him/her up, no problem.

Leave for the first week, so that your new snake can acclimate to it's new surroundings, then after it has taken it's first meal with you, wait 48hrs, then you can hold for a very short time.

Some will say no handling until it has taken at least 2 meals, but every animal is different.

He has already eaten for me, fed him the second day I had him in a separate container of course holding the thawed mouse with pliers. I have to admit I had been handling him quite a bit since I got him until I read that you should let them get used to their new home for a while.

If you don't take them out when they're under their hide you're never going to get to hold your new snake haha. I lasted about 3 days before I couldn't bear just looking and had to hold but like it's been said they're all different. You shouldn't do what I did, though XP Wait a week or two so he can get real nice and situated. Give us some pics, too! Good luck with him

I would let him\her settle in for at least a week or 2 before doing any handling or feeding.

Once you have let him settle in, at least one week, preferably 2, you can take him out whenever you want as long as he is eating. There is no reason you can't pick up the hide and hold him.

yes you can take your bp out of its hide after its settled in. let him get used to your scent in the enclosure through maintenance so it memorizes it when you do actually pick him up.patience is a virtue.
