Been away for a while
Been quite some time since I've been on here. Was out of town 9 weekends in a row so good to be home for a change. At any rate, got back a few weeks ago from the trip of a lifetime. Decided for my 40th birthday to fulfill a dream and head to a European Metal Festival in Switzerland. Well, we lucked out and just happened to pick the hotel that Whitesnake, Alter Bridge, Iron Maiden and Slipknot were staying at! Got to meet a childhood hero, Steve Harris of Maiden, who was the reason I picked up a bass in the first place. Saw most of the other members of Maiden, brief glimpse of David Coverdale and met some of the guys from Slipknot. Members of Maiden and Slipknot were staying on our floor with Joey Jordison and Mick Thomson (AKA "7") from Slipknot right across the hall. Hung out with Mick until 4AM one night. Needless to say, the trip exceeded my wildest expectations.

Yeah, I don't think I'll ever top that trip but really feels good to be home too.

Did any European metal bands play? Like Dimmu or Opeth?

Sounds like a great trip. Steve Harris was one of my bass idols as well. Got any pics?

Yeah, I've got pics but need to get them uploaded to Photobucket. Seems I've been swamped since I got back. Opeth and Dimmu didn't play but there were some European bands. In Flames played and while I didn't get to see them, Kreator did as well. There were a ton of bands at the festival with four stages total on the main day.
