body twitching

Hey everyone.. I have a borneo blood python and over the past couple days she has started twitching her body only not her head. She does not gaze or anything like that its just her body that keeps jumping. I got her out 2 days ago to clean her cage and she went crazy and got away from me and fell to the floor. Now she was already doing the twitching before this but now it seems to have gotten worse. I have done some research and only found sites about head twitching but not about the body. Last week she shed and it was the first time I fed her a frozen rat and now she is doing this. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

What temps are you keeping? Bloods/short-tails kept at very high temps can exhibit aggressiveness and neurological-appearing symptoms when overheated. And i have to ask- when you say frozen rat you mean thawed, right?

Yes I mean thawed and the temps are 88 on hot side and around 80 on the cool

I don't know if this could be the reason but I was told to make sure the ready is completely thawed because if the blood isn't thawed the snake can get impaction from the frozen ice crystals...i am far from am expert...this its just what I was told

My Borneo girl twitches when she gets excited about food ! It is pretty cool to watch. She reminds me of a little kid about to get a candy bar or some ice cream.....

She never twitches her head , just her body . It's like she is breathing really heavy with excitement....

When she does that, look out ! She means business. When she isn't in feeding mode, she is a sweet liitle baby.

I see it every time I feed her. I am NOT telling you that this is what YOUR snake is doing, just saying that my Borneo behaves this way at feeding time.

You might try an experiment, try feeding her and see if she " twitches" when she sees/ smells her food.

i would definitely drop that hot spot down. if whatever heat source you are using is on a thermostat bring it down to 82-83 on that hot side.
