    Question Ball Python Care

I'm interested in purchasing a ball python but i have some questions. What does the overall care of ball pythons consist of? Can i house one in a plastic tub instead of a glass terrarium? How do i maintain the humidity and temperature? What should the temperature be? What thermostats and thermometers do you recommend? Do you know of any reputable breeders? Is it safe to ship ball pythons? Will a UTH melt a plastic tub? What is the best bedding? DO you have and tips? Sorry i have so many questions. I just want everything to be right. Thanks!!!

    Hi!

There are lots of resources on this site that will help you learn. First, we recommend reading the caresheet:

In addition, you will find lots of threads started by other members that may have the same questions that you are thinking of.

    Good luck.

Hello welcome first of all. I am new at this as well but what I know is that you need to have a hot side and cool side. Now the hot side has to be around 90 to 93 the cool side has to be around 80 to 83 then you have your humidity mine is from 50 to 65% a lot of people are gonna change the humidity number but those are mine. . Then you have your ambient heat and that has to be at around 80 mine jumps from 80 to 82. U gonna need 2 hides one on the cool side and one on the hot side and a water dish big enough for you ball to at least soak in it, now balls don't soak in water unless they are too hot or they have mites, but u still need a water dish. Also it keeps your humidity up, now I don't know about the plastic tubs work, I am sure somebody will jump on that, but that's my 2 cents and what I know good luck

Got mine from a breeder... so I would say go to a reptile store or find a breeder. They will be able to get you the right fit. btw I have a glass enclosure and it works great...
