That's awesome! My very first egg that I cut had twins in it! But I've never seen this before. So ifthe egg split like that, does that mean the twins would be identical?

    Re: Egg Oddity

Here's an update on the eggs. They're about half way through incubation and the connective material has been growing mold. The eggs on both sides appear so still be alive and well so I'm not ready to give up yet! Any advice?

I saw a video from one of the guys at NERD cleaning the eggs from mold. Don't use chemicals though, use water and maybe a little soap. Remember not to rotate the egg.

    Re: Egg Oddity

Isn't there some foot powder or something that people use to stop the mold on the eggs?

I just read the whole thread and have looked at the srpead of the mold. In the day 48 post, I saw what appeared to be a wet spot growing between the two eggs, and this has indeed turned out to be moldy. It looks like the mold has spread (albeit very slowly) since the day 2 pic. I would bet based on the looks from the candling pic that both eggs are fine. However, in an attempt to minimize the spread of that mold, or it potentially becoming wet again and causing more damage, I would spread a thin layer of Elmer's glue around the entire area, to minimize any mroe spread. Also, as someone else stated, there is a possibility of the hatchlins pipping into each other's egg. I would definitely cut those two eggs around day 52, so that you pay closer attention to what they are doing. I have never actually recorded the statistics on how many animals actually crawl out of the hole that is cut, but taking a guess, I would say that about 1 in 100 hatchlings in my incubator will cut there own hole even though I have provided one for them.

The two things mentioned above is what I would do, and personally feel it gives you the best shot at hatching those two eggs problem free.

Good luck, and please let us know how it works out.
