Sookieball is 100%, maggots do not eat living flesh. If they are eating it, it's dead, that's why you can use maggots in place of surgery in some cases, to clean out badly infected or gangrenous wounds.

Also, as far as being airtight, it only takes one fly to get in and lay a few eggs and you've got chaos. I don't know anything about eggs and incubation, but it might be a good idea to change the substrate that they are on, in case there are more eggs in there?? I don't know if you can change the incubation substrate half way through, but if you can, then maybe do that?

Try clean it as best you can, and then hope for the best!
