    Best location for thermometer?

I'm sorry if this is a dumb question, I just want to make sure I have everything set up properly.

Where should the thermometer be? I had it on the side of the tank, low on the warm side. It was reading colder than I expected, so I took it off and put it on the floor beneath the heating lamp.

Which is the right location? Or do I have it wrong completely?

    Re: Best location for thermometer?

what do u mean...what are u using tub or tank...if u are using 10 g tank then u need to have a under tank heater...it should be on the bottom of the tank and that should be around 90 to 93....it should be heating half the tank....and then on the other side u can put a red light on top of the tank and that will give u ambient heating and that should be around 78 to 80....two hides on both sides....so if it gets two hot it could go to the other side and cool down....so you want to put the thermostat on the hot side and make sure it is at around 90... and then you wnt to check the cold side and make sure that is around 80 degrees....

    Re: Best location for thermometer?

    Hi,

When setting things up at first I move the thermometer around to check the temps are right in all areas.

So I would pout it in the cool end hide to check the cool end temps and inside the warm end hide to check the hot side temps.

Once I know thigs are set up right I tend to leave it in the hot end hide just to monitor for changes.
