Reptile Rescue
I've been thinking....
I scan craigslist a lot, not necessarily because I need another normal male or anything, but maybe because I'm waiting to see that poor ball python in a terrible position that I can save. I know people get craigslist rescues all the time and because of my landlord and my future breeding plans I don't really have the room to keep every rescue I see. Also, I have to take into account that the snake I rescue could be sick and may need vet bills which I may not necessarily be able to afford (on top of everything). I've seen reptile rescues here and there but there are really none around my area.
I thought it'd be nice to start up a reptile rescue and awareness group in my area. My only problem is I'm not sure I can do it alone. Obviously I think it'd be best if there were others interested as well in fostering reptiles we receive. I think between fostering and caring for these animals, being able to give out the caresheets we approve (most likely the ones from here....also giving out other useful info such as PAM and other common issues), and maybe also doing events like pet expos/reptile expos it'd be fun and useful. I really have no idea how much needs to be done in order to start this, and anyone with this info I'd gladly love to hear from. But, I also need partners. I'm in MA, and have experience working with rescues (boxer rescue in New England actually) so I know the steps to transporting fosters to other states, etc. Anyways, I think I'm just rambling now, maybe just sharing an idea and getting people's thoughts on it.
