    Love my Kindle!
I have not compared it to a Nook (side by side) but I do really enjoy it. The text is clear and crisp, the battery lasts forever, it is lightweight and easy to hold/use, there is no glare...the pluses go on and on and I have no complaints about it at all.
All I wanted was a reader, I have a phone and laptop so did not care what else it could or couldn't do or if it was in color or not. The Kindle fits the bill perfectly and exactly what I wanted.

+2 for the Kindle. I bought one for my wife for Christmas last year even though she had said she wouldn't use one. Something about feeling the weight of the actual book in her hands and turning the pages, blah blah blah. Once she had it in her hands, she loaded a book on there to try it and now she won't go back to paper. After she had it for a couple days and finished her first book on there, I decided I needed to try it, so I loaded a book for me and I was hooked. I ordered mine that day and neither of us have ever looked back. The Kindle is VERY easy on the eyes as it uses an e-paper technology that really looks and feels just like reading from paper. There is no backlight so you don't have the eye strain that comes with trying to read on an iPad or other type of backlit device.

I've had the last 2 generations of the Kindle and love them! I can read the Kindle all day with no strain on my eyes and Amazon's book selection is amazing.

I managed to break the screen on my most recent Kindle (which was my fault) and Amazon overnighted me a new one no questions asked. Couldn't ask for better support from Amazon.

I've played with the Nook and it's not bad, but the Kindle is definitely the best e-book reader with the best book store in my opinion.

    Re: Kindle vs Nook

Thanks, everybody, for your comments! From what I've seen, Kindle seems to offer a lot more titles/authors, and a lot more free or almost-free books. Looks like I'll be getting a Kindle!

    Kindle all the way !
If you want an excellent e-reader, go for that one I have 2, and never looked back. I like to read inside, outside, low light, bright light, etc, and it works excellent for that.

Plus I like going on Amazon and reading through book descriptions and a click later, its on the Kindle, like their selection. Also, tons of free and cheap books

Checked out my friends nook, and didn't like it at all. It has some bells and whistles, but can't touch the "reading" quality of the kindle, imho.

when it comes to kindle vs nook, always go with kindle because kindle gets more and wide variety of ebooks with different topics than nook.
