A new pickup/rescue

My wife and I just went and picked up a new ball, she's a 753g normal and has some nice blushing. Overall she is in good shape with the only issue being that she is a little dehydrated (her eyes are a bit wrinkled). She's really sweet and I wanted to ask you guys a question.


Could she be het for pied? I apologize for the quality but my camera phone was being a pain and she didn't want to hold still.

Nice Congrats on the rescue. What would make you think she would be het for pied? The only way to tell is to breed her with a het pied or pied and see if you get any pieds from the pairings, though more than likely she is just a normal.

I thought I had read somewhere that a possible marker for het pied is longer stripes on the sides of the belly scales. I don't how accurate that is but when I saw her I remembered hearing somewhere. It's very unlikely she is but I was wondering anyone might have a guess based on her belly.

The only way to know for sure is to breed her. It's a debatable topic... I think it just depends on the particular line the het pieds are coming from. Some carry the markers and some don't. Here is my 100% het pied girl. She was shy and covering the end of her tail, but the markers go all the way down past her vent.

Do they have to run the entire length of her to considered as a marker? I know it's all under debate but I'm still curious l

Markers don't mean anything. My buddy has normals that he knows are just plan normals het for nothing that have amazing "het pied markers". I've seen a bunch and I know others can back me up, there are tons of true 100% het pieds that dont show any markings what so ever.

Like everyone has been saying the only way to know is to breed out and determine from the offspring. Beautiful norm nevertheless!
