    First Blood

I just ordered my first baby red blood python! I'm pretty stoked. She's from Ben Siegel and I absolutely can't wait for Tuesday morning. I'm looking forward to the challenge of a feisty little blood. I'll be bombarding you with photos as soon as I get her.

Can you guys show me your baby photos?

Congrats my friend. You are going to love bloods; thick bodied and puppy dog tame... also like to lay around 24/7 so don't expect much movement as she gets older. My female is 2 years old and she's so lazy and my male at first when all the time, but once he settled down in his new home he's calm as can be. I'll be taking some photos outside this weekend with my juvenile male albino blood. Although he's showing signs of entering shedding so I'll see how his colors look in the sun. Here's a few photos of him when I got him.

Juveniles do well in small cages. My juvenile male is in a 10 gallon tank with a paper towel under cypress bedding, water bowl big enough for soaking and a hide. Both are housed in a custom built cage with a divider, 66" x 22" x 22". They should be housed in a cage roughly 2/3 of the body length for width and depth of cage should be 1/2 their body length. The more secure they feel the better they are... When they become big and heavy adults bigger caging will be required, probably around 5' x 2' x 1.5' (W x D x H). Awesome snakes both in size and feeding responses.

Normal Red blood pythons are around $100. Albino's around $300-500. Het. Albino $150-250. Matrix $750+. Ivories $1,000+

I'm guess-timating on prices for the last 2. But prices also depend on breeders, the good old Price vs Quality. I paid $350 for my male albino and $100 for my female normal, rescue.

Hahaha, that pretty much covers it! I'll be keeping my girl in a 16 quart shoebox until she gets bigger.

cmz1234: Beautiful bloods there! My girl is a normal red. Ben has a bit of a sale going for baby reds at $69, and I've been interested in them for quite a while so I broke down and snatched one up!

I hear reds look purple when they're in shed? I can't wait for more of your photos!

The really red ones will because after all it is the blue of the shed laid over the red which gives them a purple appearance.
