I know what you mean. On one hand, it's great that people are calling you instead of freaking out, but on the other hand, it's bad that these snakes are turning up in peoples yards.
At least the 2 rescues you have taken in won't end up in some exagerrated news story about "killer snakes" on the loose. Good job

When you say they've opened a season on Burmese Pythons, do you mean a hunting season??

Sounds like a hunting season..
A little off topic but since we're on Florida's Burm problems.. I really hate the way so called experts handle Burms, usually when they're talking about them in Florida, even in documentaries. They always create such a bad image of any snake by doing that and handling them like 'its either you or me, and its not gonna be me today'. Sure they are invasive and maybe they are a problem but stop making them sound like monsters or something. Ever since I've picked up snakes as pets Ive been disgusted at the image most (not all) of these so called wildlife experts etc on discovery or natgeo or anywhere give snakes and the way they handle them that way. I don't know why but they always sound really dumb to me.
Recently a wild retic was found killing a stray cat somewhere in the next town or something. And people got freaked out, the police came, animal cruelty came, and they started using sticks and hooks to piss it off in the middle of its meal. Just as it began to swallow, they decided to grab it behind its head while it 'wasn't looking'. Of course it went berserk and they decided to blow it up making it public enemy #1.

I'm glad we don't have that problem here, with invasive snakes I mean, fallow deer yes, invasive plants yes, but not reptiles...I somehow think they'd struggle to get a foot hold here...Africa has lots of things that go bump in the night as it is, lol, tough job for an invasive snake to make a living!!

Re: Another new rescue.
If you find a Burmese down here, you are required by state law to kill it and turn it in to wildlife control. Anyway, She came out of her hide last night to take a look around her new home. She seems very calm. I'm gonna offer her another small rat on sunday then start working her up towards more appropriate sized food items.
