    Earned my wings. :P

So the pet store where I buy my feeders got a BP as a rescue...some woman had called and said her roommate had skipped town and left his snake, and she was afraid it would eat her small children.

Of course this happens on the day I go up....and of course I had to take him home. He's been a real sweetheart, completely calm when held, but with a habit of sitting at the mouth of his hide in strike position. He sits like that for hours at a time and will investigate the warm spot if you put a finger to the glass. While switching him to a tub today, the inevitable happened. I was being a bit too complacent with a new snake I know little about, and got tagged. It barely hurt at all, but bled like I'd severed a finger.

Once it's all cleaned up, its nearly invisible. There's a barely-visible half circle of punctures around the edge of my finger and a tiny bit of bruising.

And, since I haven't gotten to introduce him yet: Meet Nyoka. He's 3-4 years old, 3.5 ft long, and weights 735 grams.

Love the feisty little BPs. My male normal rescue is the same in the sense of "laying in wait" in strike mode and following any heat signature across his tub. He hadn't been held in three years previous to me taking him in and has tagged and struck at me several times. So I still have to remind myself from time to time that I can not be as nonchalant when removing him as I am with my others.
Nice job on taking him in though, he looks good.

That's my guess too. Apparently this woman was high out of her mind and terrified of the snake anyways, so theres really no info on when he was last fed or when the roommate abandoned him. I tossed him three frozen mice I had when I got him but clearly hes still hungry.
