BP suddenly acting nervous?
My two-year-old male ball python has always been very docile and relaxed, but about a month ago, he started acting very nervous every time I would take him out of his tank. I've tried handling him more, but so far, that hasn't helped. He's never been dropped or handled roughly and nothing in his environment has changed, so I honestly have no idea what could have caused his sudden change in demeanor. Do BPs ever go through phases like this? Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. This is making me quite sad. :/

I don't know much about reptiles and hormones, but I assume they have them like most every other animal, and I'm pretty sure they go through phases as they reach different stages of maturity, kind of like adolescence, sexual maturity, mid-life, menopause, etc. Your snake is probably changing from a juvenile to a sub-adult. If it's any consolation, both of my 2 y/o boas have been acting less than docile lately. Even my Carpet Python has been better behaved than those two, and that is why I tend to believe it is just hormonal or physiological changes. Your snake should eventually calm back down.

My yearling cinnamon and my normal baby are going through that kind of phase. The normal is a lot better after a month of shaking everytime I would pick her up. The cinny is still acting nervous though. IMO it's a sign of stress or maybe a phase. Hope your BP gets over it!
