My male normal has not defecated since April 21st. He was off feed for 43 days and started eating again as of May 15th. He was on smaller prey items at first because that is what it took to get him eating again but he is currently back on live small rats. He eats every Sunday for me. I am just a little paranoid about the whole not defecating business. When does one need to start worrying? He is not constipated or anything, there is no bulge indicating that he is not able to defecate. Could he just be absorbing all of the nutrients from his meals considering how long he was fasting?

I think being that he was off feed for so long it is not necessary to worry just yet. It's only been a little over a month since he's started eating again. You can try soaking, some like to poo in water and it could help loosen things up. From what I've heard this is a common "issue" with ball pythons, mine all eat, poo, and pee normally so luckily I haven't had to worry, but I think even after a month I wouldn't start to worry. I'd say after about 3 months I'd start thinking about alternative "help". Good luck

Thank you for the quick response. I just worry about him a little too much I guess. He has really started gaining his weight back quite nicely too. I won't worry then until it has been a good while.

We all worry too much, I know I do. I think as long as he's finally eating I'd hold off on worrying about the poo situation for a while. I'm sure it takes their bodies a while to react normally after a food boycott lol.
