    Purchasing Question??

I am looking into buying a couple adult females that have been bred to several males this year. The seller says they are not gravid yet. My question is, is it to late in the breeding season for females to become gravid? I don't want to spend money on them and have them not be gravid. Hope someone can guide me in the right direction. Thanks in advanced.

IMO, if they are not worth it to you if they end up not laying than I would pass. There are plenty of snakes that will still be laying for many more months, but if they don't at least have some palpable follicles I would not have much confidence that they are going to lay at this point. Also, shipping a snake can also throw them off and they may not end up laying even if there is some follicle growth at the time of shipping. How much are they selling for?

Unless you are buying them as guarenteed to be gravid, you might as well not expect it. The price seems nice if they are big fat healthy females. Yes, females can still be breeding this late, it happens. My season is extremely late this year and I saw a lock up just three days ago between a pair of mine.

But with shipping, maybe gravid, etc etc. There's no guarentee they'd be gravid, or that they would lay viable eggs, or that the eggs would make it full term, etc. It's all a roll of the dice.

Well for $150 it might be worth a shot. A nice cb breeder normal female is worth at least $100 so at worst you would only be out about $50. Keep us updated on what you do. I am curious to see how these deals that have popped up recently turn out.
