Yeah, I remember there being a genetic-reduced pattern sort of critter that some folks were calling "banana." I think it was mainly in Europe. If I'm thinking of the right thing, it can actually make some pretty cool combos (then again, I love the reduced-pattern stuff). Definitely not as screaming as the coral glow / banana, though.
Edit: Also, I could be totally making this up, but if I recall correctly they were named concurrently and independently, and developed for awhile before the originators became aware of the "American version" of the banana. So, like the "hidden gene woma," the name is probably just gonna have to stick ...
