How long does BP sperm live?

How long does BP sperm live?
I think I may have missed the ovulation, and timed my pairings wrong. My female is defiantly building eggs, she is doing all the typical things and she’s HUGE. The last time I bred her was the beginning of April and I was wondering if I may have an unfertilized clutch due to my inexperience.
Please let me know your thoughts.
    Thank you,

    1.0 Cinnamon
    1.0 Fire

I know someone who hatched a clutch of eggs that resulted from the previous year's breeding, so if conditions are right it can last a year or so...

Re: How long does BP sperm live?

One of my friends told me this evening, that one of his bp females, which hasn't been with any males this year, laid eggs some days ago. So she has been keeping the sperm for 2 years.

I know another example where the bp female keept the sperm 3 years! I can't imagine how that is possible, but it is..

Thanks, that makes me feel better. I would just hate for her to go thru all the work of building eggs and not even getting anything out of it.

I just hatch a clutch (on 05/23/11) from a female that was not paired this season, she was in fact paired last season prior to us moving to our new house last May.

I had stop all pairings in April 2010.

Wow that's pretty awesome. This makes me feel so much better, she's a big girl 3000 grams. I feel about 8 eggs in her and they all seem normal size. I'm just over thinking it I guess.

I believe that females have been known to hold longer. I am for sure that they can retain sperm for 2 or 3 years.
