when in my area of the U.S there are black widows and brown recluse spiders outside that can do much more damage.
THoughts?

Sounds like someone has a phobia of spiders . The chance of one of those doing anything to you is so small---walking down the sidewalk is more dangerous. Just saying most people have irrational fears of things
