    I feed in the cage about 95% of the time. I tried doing it routinely for a while with a biter and it didn't stop the biting. It merely gave her more biting opportunities. It took using a cage hook for a while to correct that behavior.

    Now the only time I'll bother to feed outside of the cage is if I pull the tub out to feed and find an unexpected "gift." I'll toss the snake into another tub with it's dinner while I take the pooters out.

    Re: New ball python bit me. Need a little help from experienced owners.

    It's the way my friend fed him and what I've read said it was okay. So that's why I took him out to feed. So far he doesn't seem too stressed out.

    If next time I go to feed him and he doesn't want to eat I'll assume that he doesn't feel comfortable with me feeding him outside of his tank. And then I'll just feed him inside his tank.
