I do believe that paper is just fine as a substrate. Snakes that are in tubs do not always need hides. The OP lives in a country where it gets very hot. As long as the OP's snake is eating and going to the bathroom regularly, I really don't see a problem here. To say that this is abuse is just a little bit ignorant.

    Thank you.
The waterfall is just a plastic type build (bought it at the "As Seen On TV"store, with LED lights in the pools, a small water pump in the back closed off so the snake can't get behind it and the water flows from the reservoir in the back up into the top pool, then down into the bottom one and back into the reservoir. She loves it and spends a lot of time getting a shower or climbing all over it.

Is that a DIY build? I like the granite top. Does the cat stress out your BP?

Newspaper (printed and unprinted) has been used by many keepers on this site and is perfectly acceptable. psychophobia's BP will not get a papercut from it and will be fine. psychophobia has also already let you know that he is in a climate where the temp gradient does not change and stays quite warm all year round. As far as hides go, I too have a BP that is in a rack system and does not like or have a hide. The rack system itself provides ample security for her on three sides. Not having a hide does not mean that he does not provide his BP a secure enclosure (such as a rack). As was stated, if psychophobia snake is eating, cared for and healthy, why attack him/her for their husbandry? I have been a member here for over two years now, have went from one to 15 BPs and still accept criticism when warranted as I am also still learning everyday. I don't try to criticize others and I expect criticism I receive to be constructive and not just accusations and opinionated. You would have been better served to have thought out what you wanted to say and then word it better to avoid sounding so irrational. I am not attacking you here either, just giving some friendly advice

    paper cut
I use no hides in my tubs and my snakes thrive, the only abuse here is your post
He lives in a country that has high temps and it sounds like adding heat to an already hot tub would probably make the environment too hot.
Believe it or not they don't NEED a temperature gradient, if you can give them one they do better IMO but it's not a do or die thing.

Thanks, but no not a DIY build this time, it is a Laura Secord display case that was just tweaked a little to become a snake enclosure. The BP loves the cats, when she is out with me the cats come over to her and lick her head if I let them, she has no problems with them at all. When she is in her house she will come over to the glass and dance with the cats almost, she is very interested in them, not fearful at all.
