    If a UTH is getting hot enough to melt plastic, it's getting hot enough to burn your snake, even through glass. This is why we always advise that under tank heaters MUST be controlled by a thermostat or rheostat. As long as you're regulating the heat properly, you can use them on plastic with no problems.
