Re: Hatchling with Enlarged Eyes...UPDATE
Thanks for all the kind words.

I will have to put up a picture of him (Poss Het Lavender Albino) and keep it updated with his progress, since it seems that everyone else with this issue, never has the luck of the animal living.
Just wanted to say this was a great thread, and I was able to learn something from it.
Thanks again,
Your welcome . Good to hear your little one is doing well. I look forward to following his progress too.

Sorry, this thread got kind of confusing. Muddoc's little guy is still doing well, our little one, Bug, had to be euthanized. .

Is it a result of line breeding too much? I don't know about bp's but I have read that it is a common deformity from to much line breeding in many kinds of snakes. Or am I misinformed?

Re: Hatchling with Enlarged Eyes...UPDATE
I honestly don't think this had to do with genetics. The parents are unrelated as far as I know. Basically his umbilical cord was wrapped around his yolk sack which most likely caused a disruption in his flow of nutrients and in turn caused him to be under developed. His eyes were just one symptom. I don't think it was an incubation issue either because all his clutch mates were perfect and did great. Also, we had another clutch in the incubator at the same time which hatched out perfect as well.
Here is a picture of his yolk left behind in the egg.
