    I got Him!

I got my baby BP today! He's got great color, even though the picture is crummy. (its from my phone) I am so excited. So, ive heard different things from different people but decided to ask, is it good to put a strip of shirt or something with my sent in his cage? to let him get my sent? i thought it sounded ridiculous but idk im no expert. Also, i was told not to handle him a day after eating. Is that true? thanks guys :) JK about picture i cant put them up :) He is a male BTW im so happy!

Congrats on your new BP. Yeah, I've heard of people putting in some article of clothing for a few days for them to get use to your scent.

Wait a week to handle him and to feed him. Let him get used to his new enclosure. Make sure your husbandry is on par, and you'll enjoy your BP for many many years to come.

And be sure to post a pic sometime.

    Good luck.

    Re: I got Him!

Congrats on the new addition! Can't wait to see more pictures of him as was said, follow the care sheet and you'll have a happy healthy snake. I've heard of people doing that, but I haven't done that with any of my snakes and they're all as handleable as can be. It's more a matter of how you handle them that makes them more tame.

I've never heard of anyone "scenting" an enclosure. I doubt that would change the BPs behavior in any way. If he's going to be nippy, he'll be nippy. If he's going to be an angel, he'll be an angel regardless of his familiarity with your scent.

Also, you're right about not handling him after eating, but it is suggested that you do not handle them for 48hrs after they eat, not 24hrs. If they become stressed after they eat, they regurgitate their prey as an escape method. It's best to let them settle and digest their food before stressing them out by handling them.

Check out the care sheet on this site and good luck!
