    Re: Bts vs bd

Personally I would say a BTS, not because im a BTS owner, but because of these specific things mentioned:

    - A BTS can make good eye contact, some do it a lot, often in order to find food. in other words, they know from where their food comes, or might come.

    - A BTS can sometimes be seen choosing which way it should take, for example down a staircase or continue the easy way into a hide. In other words, they can evaluate and think about their choices beforehand. If you search on youtube you might find a video with a BTS that things about it for a minute or so.

And well, beardies are sweet and active too, some make a little eye contact, but they just dont match the characteristics of a BTS. Some prefer beardies due to their appealing looks, they dont look quite as mean as a BTS can look like, but a BTS can really look puppylike when it stares and licks its mouth ( not in the smelling kind of way, but in the tasting kind of way).

either way, theyre both rather smart lizards, but a BTS is topping the list if you measure intelligence this way......Im not saying they have feelings or the like, but their focus is incredible.

anyone is welcome to disagree with me.

    Pros and cons

    - a bts is more expensive and requires bigger terrariums
    - a beardie diet is simpler as theres pellets to mix the veggies with, bts need meat+veggies+a little fruit
    - bts are harder to breed, and may not be kept together as they can attack and kill eachother. unless its a shingleback who chooses a partner for life. Beardies can be kept together in some cases and breed easily.
    - i think a bts might bite harder, but theyre more prone to hiss before theyre used to you instead.
    - they need about the same light/heat/uv, a good basking spot of course and lots of hides. BTS needs a lot of nice hides.
