Talking When your BP begins to feed again after a long fast...How did you feel?

Good morning all...I am sure this question has been asked before,But when you experience this for the first time as a newbee to this kind of thing. It can evoke all sorts of emotion.Back in November my young male BP fed as usual a few days before thanksgiving,Well that was it for a long time,as in up till 3 days ago when he finally began to feed again. The range of emotion from mild annoyance at the beginning ..to full blown concern..after the first of the year.to tears of joy...yes i cried when he fed last week..Some people may find this silly.but my boy means the world to me and im wondering how all of you out there survived this.that have experienced this nervewracking experience.Any stories would be appreciated..thanks for sharing

Re: When your BP begins to feed again after a long fast...How did you feel?

My male normal went off feed for 20 days in the winter and then decided to eat again. Now he is off feed again, it has been 37 days since his last meal. I just deal with him not eating and patiently wait it out now. When he had his first hunger strike I kind of freaked out til I heard that these snakes can go a long time without eating.

i felt like a mother who just gave birth to there first child. well not really since im a guy an have no idea what thats like but you get the point. I bought an albino female about 400 grams no matter what i did she did not eat for nearly a year. She now is feeding weekly and has done a complete 180. I started to give up hope on her and then one day i see her out in her tub at night looking like she might just take a meal. Defrosted a small meal an bam she instantly struck and ate it. Huge relief off my chest when she did that and has been since taking one meal a week for the past 2 months.

Yeah, my girl pretty much did the same. She wouldn't really eat all winter long, maybe one 30g mouse every 3-4 weeks and she's about 500g.

A few weeks ago she started eating again and is now eating both rats and mice for a total of about 80g of mice every 4 days. I only feed her when she's in "hunting mode" where she curls the first few inches of her body in an S just outside of her hide. I figure if she's looking for food, she's hungry, so I offer and she strikes instantly.

I think I'm going to up her food size again once I finish up the current supply.

It's a great feeling when you get a finicky snake to finally start eating again. Luckily they can go quite a while without food. I know the first time I had a snake stop eating, it was nerve wracking.
