BCC enclosure questions.
Hi there,
for those of you who have the joy of a big lovable boa- how do you have them set up? I am inheriting two that are 9 and 11 feet and the setup they are in won't cut it. They have just out grown it. I want to have every thing ready for them and kick their old cage to the curb. Its not purposeful neglect- their mama has cancer and just hasn't been able to focus on her babies.
She wants them to go to me because I'm the only one she knows who love them like she does. She's also hoping that if she pulls through her babies can be back in her life. After 15 years, they really are her children.
Ok, I'm rambling. I will do what ever necessary to give them a happy, healthy home.
In short- how do you have your big boys. Did you build an enclosure? Buy one? What has worked well for you. Any help would be great!

The bigger the cage you can have the better, is my personal opinion.
For these 6'x2' floor space minimum or 12 sq ft. When I had my big girl (Brazilian bcc 13'+) she was in a 5'x3' floor space. It was built cage that I got for $150 back in like 1995-96,there just wasn't much other options then. At that time she had reached the 8'-9' mark. It was a pain in the butt because you had to take it apart to get through the door.
Currently all my adults are under 8 ft so they are in 4'x2' cages, which I have built.
BIG PROPS !

Re: BCC enclosure questions.
It's awesome that you are willing to take care of your friend's snakes in her time of need. It will do her good to know her snakes are in good care.
Thank you and best wishes and prayers for your friend in her fight agaist cancer!

Re: BCC enclosure questions.
You may also look into a local cabinent maker that could build you a custom size cage. Maybe a relative or friend is handy with woodworking and could help you construct a cage. I guess I'm trying to say that you need to consider all options, because I know big cages are expensive.

6x2s are pretty popular for that size of boa. I personally would go with boaphile, I've seen their 6 footers in person and they look wonderful, and the products of theirs that I own and use are top notch.

Thank you. This has been so helpful. I'm looking at pictures to get a good idea of the cages and see if I can pull it off myself or if I will have to have it made. Again- Thank you
