    thermostat probe placement

Ok so I kno everyone is gunna say to tape the thermostat probe directly to the uth. My question is that if my tanks glass surface jumps fron 88 to 97 when my tstat is set at 93 would it be more consistent placing.my tstat probe above uth inside enclosure bein held down by hot glue? Opinions would be ausome..

I hot glue mine on the inside of the glass tank. But thats just me, I've heard of people placing the probe to the uth....but I've heard of potential fire hazards with that.

    Re: thermostat probe placement

i have mine between the U.T.H and the bottom of my terrarium, not taped.
i've never heard of the fire hazard issue. and according to some here it may not be a good idea to have any cords inside the cage cuz they pose a tangling risk if the snake gets curious or whatever and gets itself tangled up.

The potential for the probe to be moved is too high to ever place it inside the tank/enclosure IMO.

A 9 degree swing is too much, something is not right with that.
I've always taped the probe to the flexwatt and never had issues like that, maybe the t-stat is malfunctioning?

Fire hazard just because the probe is placed against the UTH?

I read on here someone's probe melting, and another of the tape they used to attach the probe to the UTH, made the UTH malfunction. I honestly don't think you could go wrong either way. I'm just paranoid about those things lol

I'd be far more paranoid having the snake potentially move the probe and burn itself.
I've always kept my probes taped to the flexwatt and IMO there is no place better.
Snake are quite strong and hot glue won't ensure the probe doesn't get moved and tape is a no-no in any enclosure.

Ya I have mine taped to the uth. My temps have stabalized bc I switched from paper towels to reptibark. I've bought all the substrates and so far a mix of jungle mix and reptibatk I think its staying.. my luck my infared bowl just blew so in order to keep a lil xtra heat in his tank I have the daylight on a dimmer super low.. as soon as I awake I'm headn to pet store.. any opinions on eithr a infared or a moon glo? Which one gives off more heat?

What kind of tape do you guys use to attach it to the UTH? Or do you just put it in between the glass? and the UTH?

I heard foil tape will give the tstat false readings so i stretch packing tape from the bottom side of tank to the other side
