i juss dont get it!!
Ok. So I've bewn tryen and tryen to get temps acceptable.. I got a thermostat for hot side and a dimmer for the cold side.. the glass right now is 98 and the substrate top inside enclosure will not go higher than 80 on hot side.. the glass on cold side is set on 89 right now and it wont get hotter than 76. I have 2 indoor outdoor thermometer with probes. One is a hygrometer too. Plus 2 other thermometers with probes so I have almost every square foot monitored lol. Idk wat else to do. The substrate is only 1/2 to 3/4" thick.. someone please help me with some pointers here..

Try playing around with how deep the substrate is. My temperature on the glass was like 98 but, I couldn't get my substrate temps higher than 85. Thin it out as much as you can, but make sure your BP can't burrow to the glass, and burn himself, with those temps. It's just finding the right balance.
Eventually I just started using my heat lamp along with the UTH, by placing it in the center, with a dimmer. It got all those temps up where they should be. A heat lamp will definitely be able to get those cold side temps up where they need to be. It maybe able to help get the hot side there too.
What are you using to measure the temps? And what substrate are you using?

What kind of substrate are you using? I changed from coco fiber to aspen because the coco fiber was not allowing the heat through it, and I don't think it was even 1/2" thick.

I'm using aspen. Hot side has came up to 86 with the heat lamp and the cold sidd is up to 82 which cold side is perfect. I kinda don't wanna go any thinnet wit the substrate.. its too easy now to push off glass

That's odd....I have ZERO heat issues with aspen....what kind of heat source is it?? Flexwatt...UTH...??

Re: i juss dont get it!!
hey i was having an issue awhile back with temps that were too low and finally realized it was due to the heat pad not being powerful enough (wattage was too low). i ended up with another heat pad with a little bit of a higher wattage and it made a difference. i also stopped stressing out that i wasnt getting exact temps and just settled for the good temp ranges and things are fine here. my snake is eating good, shedding good and thermo-regulating like she should so apparently things are ok.

Also idk if he's thermoregulating or not.. he used to stay on his hot side til I swapped his log for a snug fit bowl.. now he stays on cold side. So my question is how do u kno if he's thermoregulating? I'm at work n when i have time ill research it but I figured id ask just incase I get an answer b4 I find the info

The only hide I ever see one of my bps in is the hot hide, and they are both the exact same. When he's out at night sometimes he'll wander to the cool side and lay out or climb up the sides. Thermoregulating is where a snake moves from hot to cool in order to keep their body temp where it should be. They don't necessarily have to switch hides in order to do this. Not sure if this has been asked but how are you measuring your temps? You said you have a thermostat and a dimmer right? But how are you measuring the actual temps?
