Whole new respect...
I'm trying to move out with Max and his friend...I have gained a whole new level of respect for my parents.
This is HARD and stressful. Never have I had so many sleepless nights just because of panicking and worrying.
I keep going over the budget, scrutinizing every penny we'll need to spend, the worst case scenario, hoping T will be able to get his money from his payee, that me not having a rental history will prevent all of us from getting approved.
Oh my god.
This is crazy.
How do all of you do this every day, paying bills and rent and moving out on your own--all by yourself?? I'm so scared.
I hope this gets easier over time.

Everyone goes threw this and these feelings are normal.... I knew that I had more than enough money put away to be able to get my own place, but I was still panicked.... It does get easier as long as you have planned for the unexpected problems that arise. Good luck....

Re: Whole new respect...
It's a learning process-it does get better just stay away from the credit cards!! They will mess you up if you aren't careful.
I stressed more as a parent when my son moved out a few months ago and was tying to figure things out than I did when I moved out. He's not gifted with financial sense
He's finally figuring it out though lol-was quite a shock to him. My favorite quote was "omg I can't believe milk costs that much!"

It gets easier with time, but there will always be worries and stress. I've been living on my own for about 5 years now and I still worry about money. If you have a budget and stick to it then you find yourself worrying less each month. I'm an odd case where I get paid on the first of every month so this might not work for you, but what I do is try to plan 1-2 months in advance so I know where I'll have a little extra money and where I will need to curb my spending more. There will always be cases where unexpected problems popup but even those get easier to handle with time. Good luck!

Re: Whole new respect...
I wouldn't say it's easier, you just get used to money going where it is needed first and tend to go without things you want. I can't believe how little I stress about it month to month with 2 young kids. My wife is the one who worries about things 5 months from now, I am fine as long as the bills that are due are paid.
It's funny to think that about $4000 a month gets filtered through us, but we can't afford $100 on something we want.....

Re: Whole new respect...
1) take care of the neccessary things first (rent, bills & groceries).
come up with a plan of either who's gonna pay what or figure out how much ya'll can pitch in for each of those things so your doing it all together.
& also, keep in mind that just because ya'll might be able to AFFORD to have your own place together doesnt mean it will work out if ya'll dont talk about what is expected from each of you.
are you all gonna work as a team to keep the place clean and running smoothly or is one person gonna be a maid?
being able to live together successfully will take respect, common sense & self discipline.
