Incubator Temp Gradient
How much of a temperature gradient do you guys see in your incubators? Even with a 4" computer fan running in my wine cooler incubator, I am seeing about a 2.5 degree range in temp from the top shelf to the bottom shelf. When the top shelf is at 90 degrees, the bottom is at about 87.5 degrees. It does stay very stable though. Will this hurt anything? Maybe the bottom will just take longer to incubate?
Thanks!

Re: Incubator Temp Gradient
Hi,
I would think about moving the fan at this point.
Maybe others could share where in the incubators they placed theirs in relation to the heat source etc?

Re: Incubator Temp Gradient
Hi,
Is the heat mat up the back wall?
Could you try it at the bottom blowing up accross the heatmat at an angle?

Yes. I have 11" flexwatt running up the back wall. Since the bator has eggs in it right now and I am expecting another clutch in a few days...I think I am forced to use what I have at the moment. Fortunately, these will be my only clutches this year. In the off season I wll try some of your suggestions. If anyone else has any suggestions, please let me know!

Ours has about a 1 deg. difference. It's a 6'-4" tall freezer. We have 2 computer fans on the 2nd shelf from the bottom. They blow down onto the heat lamp and tile we have set up in there. Each shelf has a few 2 litre bottles of water, for mass to keep temps stable.
I would move your fan to the middle at least, blowing down.
Do your fans stay on constantly? Or do they only come on with the heat via the t-stat? Ours are constant on.
