    Help sexing pyxie frog?

My boyfriend's sister went to the convention today and picked up a pyxie frog! She tells me it's about 3.5-4 inches long right now and she wants to know if it is possible to sex it yet!

She got this picture, any ideas?

I hope so! But I guess eventually we'll figure it out one way or another even if no one answers. It'll croak or as it gets bigger the body will get more obvious to be male or female I guess. Still if anyone knows, please chime in

Hi, i've got exactly the same frog! here it is :
    http://www.picdo.net/fichiers/2011/9...3e04_grenn.JPG
it's a pyxicephalus edulis, and i'm pretty sure it's a male. from what i've seen here and there it seems that females have thinner heads and different coloration. here's what i think is a female:

i'm not 100% sure either though, im waiting to ear a call

    Re: Help sexing pyxie frog?

Those pics almost don't even look like a pyxie for some reason lol...Almost looks like a normal bullfrog. I'm sure its just the pictures. But, here is a picture of my female. The males are the sex that get the biggest. The males also seem to have a larger mouth/head. I was fooled into thinking that the female gets bigger, but it is opposite with these guys. In the wild the males battle each other to decide who gets to mate the female, hence why the males get bigger.

    Re: Help sexing pyxie frog?

hi, i've heard my pyxie edulis croaking yesterday, it's definitely a male. here's another pic of him :

sorry for the crappy cam, but he has exactly the same colors and shape than yours purplemuffin. so i guess yours is a male too.
yes animals as leaders, it's not a giant but a dwarf bullfrog. you can tell by the little yellow spot on the eardrum , the big eyes and the camouflage colors. nice giant bullfrog you have by the way
