    Shedding Question

Hey there! I am a new Ball Python owner. I have a 7 month old male named Zim, and we are going through his first shed since the move. He has eaten fine since coming here, and I have him in a plastic enclosure with the humidity at 75% due to the shed. He came out of the blue stage 2 days ago, but when I looked at him today, bits of the skin are breaking. I'm wondering if he has been rubbing against things and breaking it, or is this a sign that something is wrong?

    Any input would be appreciated!

    First off welcome to BP.net!

My recommendation is to just leave him be and keep the humidity up.

His shed should come off in one big piece. If you see big patches of shed start to come off instead that means he had a bad shed, not your fault, sometimes it just happens. Either way I would just leave him alone for the time being and see what happens. If it ends up being a patchy shed a 20min soak to help remove unshed skin(the shed that looks like its about falling off) may be in order. Just don't mess with the eye caps.

And even if it does turn out to be a bad shed don't panic, it will not hurt your BP in anyway.

Thank you for the welcome and quick advice. Luckily, not 20 minutes after you responded, Zim had a perfect shed.

    Have a good day/night!
