    I'm no expert, so I really don't know if sudden nipping is caused by anything specifically (other than what you've already checked for). All I could possibly think to suggest is put a towel/blanket over his enclosure if you're up late, in case the light is suddenly bothering him. I doubt noise is bothering him because they don't exactly "hear" like we do, they more so feel vibrations. So, unless you're banging on his enclosure or blasting music, I doubt that's a problem. I would also suggest getting two identical hides so you're sure he is properly thermoregulating. Hope this helps a bit, hopefully a more knowledgeable keeper can suggest more to you!
