    Tractor Supply Company(aspen bedding questions)

So our BP Snickers will need new aspen bedding soon....

I have read various posts about "Tractor Supply Company" on here and we have one about 20 minutes away from where we live. I would rather purchase outside of pet stores due to cost but more importantly because I have MAJOR PROBLEMS with the way pet stores operate.

I just worry about "dust" and "sharpness" of the 2 kinds of Aspen bedding they apparently sell though...

Any thoughts by people who purchase aspen bedding from there? your advice would be greatly appreciated

I dont get it at Tractor Supply but a Feed Store Teklad brand I believe. About $10 for a 30# bag and it works just fine. It looks just like the pet store stuff and I have not had a problem with it. All dry wood shavings will have some dust even the pet store bags. Yeah it's a big bag but its mch better than paying 7 or 8 for a little bag at pet store.

Re: Tractor Supply Company(aspen bedding questions)

I tried the Tekland shredded Aspen which had very small pieces but it was very dusty. I like the Aspen shavings - less dust, more volume, soaks up the urine better and it gives the rodents something to chew on.

I was buying big bags at reptile shows but found that the prices were cheaper at big box stores (Petco, Petsmart) when they have sales. I have to drive pretty far to reach a TSC or a "feed & grain", so the gas cost eats up any savings.

Look around at all of your options.

if your worried about aspen try newsprint, virtually no dust,no sharpness and no cost.many people still think newspaper has ink in it but the print is vegetable dye usually soy based.have fun!

I use the Aspen from tractor supply store. Never had any issues with it.
