cloacal region bleeding when shedding

I've had this male pastel for a couple of months now. The first time he shed I noticed a tiny amount of blood in the newspaper, I checked him up thinkin that he was injured by his clay pot hide by rubbing himself but found no injury. Yesterday, while in the process of shedding, i saw my snake's cloacal region bled as the old skin passed that area! Is it possibe that the old skin bonds and ruptures the cloaca? Has anyone ever experienced this?

I don't have experience but have read that it is not entirely uncommon for this to happen. As long as the amount of blood is tiny I wouldn't worry too much but usually a harder shed can be a sign of low humidity. What is your humidity at during shed? I move all my water bowls over the Flexwatt when I know an animal is going to shed and that usually provides 70%+ humity for me. I use tubs though. Perhaps someone with more experience beyond reading can reply to the thread as well.

This is normal and is nothing to worry about. I have seen this after my snake sheds. As long as it is not a lot of blood, you are fine.

Well that made sense. low humidity might be the culprit, his previous shed didn't come in one piece. time to keep an eye on my humidity level

It's normal, wet shed or dry.

thank goodness, the last thing I wanted was a snake with an injured hemipenes

I agree, normal humid or not you may see a tiny bit of blood.

I agree I have zero humidity issues and with a few of my males the same happens. It's normal
