Not sure of the sex. No changes made to the tank. I don't think it's hungry, because it will start this behavior two days after it eats. Sometimes it will refuse a small rat and just continue looking for and escape route. Crawling over the thawed rat in the process.

Ball pythons are more active at night anyways but if you have a male it could be looking hard for a mate.
