Don’t get me wrong.
Even though our justice system as well as our government is broken and corrupt. I am very proud to be an American. Between my other half and I, we have spent 19 years of service defending this nation. Fighting for the rights of others to live the life of freedom.

It is a sad day when a human life is worth less than an animals in some people's eyes. I truly can't bear to read this thread anymore. It literally makes me sick just thinking about it...

Realy?
My dog is mine. It is part of MY family. I will save MY family before I save a stranger. Is that realy wrong?
Now if the question was who would you save from drowning a stray dog or a human? Then I would have to say the human.

Ever think that he can't face what he has done because he is embarassed by it and actually regrets what he has done? Also keep in mind that he grew up in the projects in Virginia where things like this were probably going on all around him. While I know iggnorance is no excuse for stupidity, think through your life. I'm sure there were numerous things that you did, that you had to get punished for before you realized what you did was wrong. Well now he has been punished and realizes and admits he was wrong, so why not get off him.
You also brought refrence to an uncle of yours, and while I feel for your situation, your uncles repeat offenses can't even be compared to this. What has Vick "messed up" on since he served his punishment? Not everybody goes back to their old ways.
It's all the negative people that are unwilling to forgive people that make our world so crappy. Whats the point in holding a grudge?
And quite frankly,

Which is probably why I would rather buy a loaf of bread and feed the pigeons than feed a homeless person.
That is the most ignorrant, heartless comment I have heard in a long time.

The point I'm trying to make is as a society we tend to attack the individual and not the institution. And this individual ONLY because the corporate media decided to focus so much attention on it. It was pushed on us because the HSUS and PETA (type groups) made a killing as far a profits. Look how many shows on APBTs popped up on Animal Planet, National Geographics during and after his case. A lot of people made money, believe me. And it was not because they love the breed or hate dog fighting like many of us. But because if dog fighting made the right people money it would be legal too. This is a capitalist society. Profits will ALWAYS be put over people.
I'm happy someone brought up Rape'em Roethlisberger. this guy sexually assaulted 2 known women. ESPN didn't even touch it the first time around. The second time they had to. Where was the outcry here? If Roethlisberger was raping pitbulls then there would have been outrage.
So in no ways do i support cruelty to animals. I simply choose to look at the bigger picture.

First off, i'm a stubborn country woman and I love a good debate. I thank you for that.
And, there is a big difference in being raised to what is right and wrong, and knowing what is right and wrong. If you are raised in a Texas Chainsaw Massacre kind of home, you should still know killing is wrong. You can not always blame everything on how you were raised, eventually you have to grow up and make your own mind up.
Vick hasn't messed up anything since being out, but he is still being criticized by every move. I think he's being careful because he knows he's being watched like a hawk. What happens when we take our eyes off of him? What will happen when he retires, and is not longer on the tip of our tongues? That will be his true test, and maybe then i'll believe he has truly changed. But, it will take more than a press conference, an apology, and a few million dollars for my sympathy.

Re: Keep Michael Vick off the cover of Madden '12
Wow, look what I started.....
Personally I like the way Hillis runs the ball, and don't want the face of the NFL for gamers and kids to be Vick. Vick can play all he wants, i could care less about that. Work is boring and I won't have any eggs hatching for another month so need something to fill my time. So my goal for this month is to get Peyton Hillis on the cover of Madden '12, a man needs hobbies.
For the other stuff....
Mice and rats die for snakes to eat, cows die for me to eat, last I check no one ate those dogs. They were killed inhumanly for selfish reasons.
My dog is a golden retriever and swims better than me. I also know how dangerous it is to swim out to save someone who is drowning. They typically try to use your body to get out of the water and will endanger your life. Besides if my dog can't make the swim, I have no chance either. So if a rope or float is around I'll throw it to the guy, if not I'll keep myself safe and chose to save neither. I have kids at home to think about and I can get another dog.
I like my dog better than most people, but that's an unfair contest because I spend more time with my dog and she impacts my life more. However my kids and wife are more important than the dog, even though I've had her longer. In general a strangers life is more important than a strange dog, but if the person is a jerk and the dog is cool I might change my mind.
PETA, HSUS, no thank you.
Looking at the original 32 'players' that were in the voting tournament, I would have liked to see Seattle's 12th man on the cover, Fans make the league and Seattle has the best (well, tied with Pittsburgh anyway).
And finally, it's just the cover of a video game, not really that serious. It's not like the 2nd place guy is placed on an iceburg and sent adrift. Besides, Mike Vick was already on the cover..... give someone else a chance. Anyway if the game is so realistic there is a chance when you turn it on it won't work.
